Strategic Human Resource Management and Supply Chain Orientation in South Asia: Growth imperative for Chinese economy


Special issue call for papers from Journal of Chinese Human Resource Management

In last three decades, Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) has started addressing various research issues in supply Chain domain (Schuler and MacMillan, 1984; Lengnick-Hall, Andrade, & Drake, 2009; Noe et al., 2006 ). Corporate culture, HRM polices and Firm’s orientation towards its employees contributes significantly in the formulation of Supply Chain Management Strategy of a firm. (McAfee, Glassman and Honeycutt, 2002).

With the emergence as world leader, Countries like China in last few decades, undergone economic industrial change and upgrading. In this direction, benchmark practices can be attained and sustained by leveraging human resource factor across the Supply Chains (Charles, Gowen and William, 2003; Rowley and Ulrich, 2016).

The present Special issue, Call for papers invites all possible interventions in the area of Strategic Human Resource Management and Supply Chain Orientation, In context to south Asia. The focus of the Special issue shall growth imperative for Chinese economy.

Given this our Special Issue Research contributions are invited in multi- or cross-disciplinary perspective to investigate role of SHRM in Supply Chain orientation among emerging economies in South Asia. The issues aim to develop indigenous theories, models and case studies of Chinese SHRM towards Supply Chain orientation. Contributions exploring the mechanisms of how Chinese HRM contributed to human capital theories by Rowley and Redding (2012) are particularly welcome.

Due to enhancement in the size and scope of the Supply Chain networks among firms, the role of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) research is not confined to single firm. Every set of partner is now influence with the SHRM decisions and it affects the overall Supply Chain Orientation of the ecosystem.
