Special Issue Call for Papers-Sexual Violence on College Campuses: Risk, Resilience, and Prevention Programming

From Journal of Aggression, Conflict and Peace Research

Focus:

This special issue seeks to build on emerging topics concerning sexual violence on college campuses. In accordance with FBI and legal definitions of sexual violence, this special issue is open to topics including, but not limited to, rape, sexual assault, coercion, harassment, stalking, dating and intimate partner violence, and human trafficking as related to sexual victimization. Quantitative, qualitative, mix-method, review and conceptual/theoretical articles are all eligible for consideration.

While all domains of inquiry concerning sexual violence are of interest, the following topics are especially needed in the literature:

1. Development and implementation of theory-based sexual violence prevention programs on campus.
2. Theory tests concerning mechanisms and processes and offending.
3. Strategies to enhance provision and utilization of campus support services for victims (e.g., mental health counselling, women’s centres).
4. Emphasis on theories and models of protective factors and recovery empowerment (i.e., resilience) for victims.
5. Policy-related reviews and evaluations concerning topics such as Title IX.
6. In-depth, multi-level analysis of sexual victimization-related subcultures among subgroups of college students (e.g., Greek life, athletes).
7. Review of high profile case studies with emphasis on lessons learned moving toward a culture of gender equity and violence risk reduction on campuses
