"To receive the Social Impact award for 2011 was a great honour. I have spent my working life moving between the corporate world and the not for profit sector, hence my paper regarding a new model of interaction between the two, suggesting methodologies to enhance this relationship. As someone coming from a non-academic background, writing an applied research paper, it was particularly gratifying to be acknowledged amongst peers with stronger academic backgrounds. The initial publication of my article by Emerald Group Publishing and this subsequent award has opened many doors for me through the positive exposure that has followed. I am very appreciative and would encourage others to pursue research and subsequent publication through this channel."
