Chinese Management Studies journal going from strength-to-strength

Celebrating first anniversary of successful partnership between Hangzhou Dianzi University and Emerald Publishing

Academy of Management Annual Meeting, Atlanta, GA, USA, 4-8 August 2017 – Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) is celebrating a year since it began successfully partnering with Emerald Publishing to publish the well-renowned international journal Chinese Management Studies (CMS).

CMS itself is celebrating ten years of publication in 2017, and provides a unique and insightful approach to documenting and disseminating research into Chinese processes of managing enterprises, firms and corporations. CMS seeks to provide in-depth analysis of Chinese managerial thinking, philosophy and processes through empirical pieces on Chinese management as well as interviews and dialogue to reflect current thinking on management by leading Chinese CEOs, academics and personalities.

The journal is edited by Prof Cherrie Jiuhua Zhu of Monash University in Australia, a globally renowned academic and expert on China, specifically on globalization, cross-cultural management and HRM policies. Professor Zhu is supported by Deputy Editors Dr Mingqiong Mike Zhang, also at Monash, and Dr David Fan, of Curtin University in Australia.

Overseeing publishing operations is Simon Linacre, Head of Business, Management & Economics journals at Emerald, who said: “We’re proud to have seen Chinese Management Studies grow from strength-to-strength in the year since Emerald appointed new Editor Prof Zhu and began partnering with HDU.

CMS fosters research by Chinese scholars across China, as well as the work of international researchers. In doing so, it demonstrates the range of management research capabilities within China, together with the interest shown in Chinese management around the globe.”

CMS was first published in 2007; and, in less than a decade, has become a prestigious journal indexed in the Clarivate Analytics Science Citation Index with an increased Impact Factor of 0.394 in 2016, and in Scopus where it has a CiteScore of 0.500.

Emerald Publishing - which is celebrating its 50th in 2017 - recently received its best ever Impact Factor results in the data release of the 2016 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) from Clarivate Analytics, with overall citations up by 41%. Emerald also announced earlier in the year that it remains - according to CiteScore - the publisher with the leading share of titles in the Business, Management , with over 16% of the sector.
