Entries now open for the 2016 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards
Bingley, United Kingdom, 20 September 2016 – As part of its dedication to celebrating excellence in scholarly research, Emerald Group Publishing
has launched the 2016 Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards (ODRAs) – an awards scheme designed to celebrate excellence in doctoral research, in collaboration with EFMD
This year, the following seven categories are open to those that have completed and satisfied examination requirements for a doctoral award between 15 January 2014 and 15 January 2017:
• Operations and production management
• Logistics and supply chain management
• Educational leadership and strategy
• Management and governance
• Human resource management
• Leadership and organization development
• Health care management.
To be eligible for the awards, the research submitted must address an issue that is of importance to one of the various subject areas listed above. This will then be judged by the Editor(s) and at least one Editorial Advisory Board member of the sponsoring journal from each category; and assessed on the significance/implications for theory and practice; originality and innovation; appropriateness and application of the methodology; and the quality of the data/research.
Jim Bowden, Head of Academic Relations at Emerald said “As Emerald is publisher of the largest collection of international business and management journals, we are delighted to partner with EFMD which promotes excellence in business management, globally.
“This awards scheme has been running for the past 12 years and every year we are impressed with the high quality of doctoral research submitted, so are looking forward to receiving this year’s entries and celebrating more high quality research”.
Emerald is proud to support researchers at all stages of their career, as Dr Nathan Eva, winner of the Leadership and Organization Development Category for the 2015 Emerald/EFMD ODRA awards (for his thesis ‘Servant leadership and job satisfaction: The moderating roles of the leader’s decision making process and organizational structure’) explains:
“I’d like to thank EFMD, Emerald and the Leadership and Organizational Development Journal for selecting my thesis for this award. I am so grateful for the work both EFMD and Emerald do in supporting emerging scholars.
“Their support of new academic research allows new scholars to challenge existing thought patterns and delve into new ideas.”
The closing date for this year’s applications is 15 January 2017 and winners will be announced in March/April 2017.
