Celebrate the summer of sport with Emerald!

Take a journey through the ever changing field of sports research

Bingley, United Kingdom, 3 August 2016 - With several high-profile sporting events taking place in the upcoming months, it’s the perfect time to take a journey through the ever changing field of sports research.

To celebrate the summer of sports, Emerald has created a dedicated landing page, which hosts an interactive map. Click on the different continents to find selected articles, built around different themes, originating from that continent. The articles will be available as free access until 1 September 2016 and are free to view and share.

Learn about the rising demand for sporting goods in Asia, sports marketing in Australasia, the social impact sport has had in Europe, fan behaviour in the Americas and how sport has assisted in the creation of national identity in Africa.

The dedicated landing page also hosts an interview with Richard Pound, former Olympian, former Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and former Chair of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Here he deliberates the impact of doping on sport and shares his views on steroid usage in Major League Baseball.

Further to this, Emerald has also conducted a Q&A with Literati award winners, Dr Yuhei Inoue from the University of Minnesota and Dr Cody T Havard from University of Memphis. They were awarded the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence Outstanding Paper for their article ‘Sport and disaster relief: a content analysis’ from Disaster Prevention and Management: An International Journal. They discuss their research and their feelings on receiving the award.

The articles will be available as free access until 1 September 2016 and all content is free to view and share.
