Winners of Emerald-sponsored American Library Association Professional Recognition and Research Awards announced
Cash prizes for three ALA awards recognizing outstanding members of the library community
Bingley, United Kingdom, 16 June 2016 – In its continued support of the Library community, Emerald Group Publishing
has provided a cash prize to three different American Library Association (ALA) professional recognition and research fund awards.
The ALA LITA/LHT award, Ilene F. Rockman Instruction Publication of the Year Award and the BRASS Emerald Research Grant Award celebrate the outstanding achievements involved in research and communication in the field of librarianship.
Dan Cohen is the winner of the 2016 LITA/Library Hi Tech Award for Outstanding Communication in Library and Information Technology, selected for his work with the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), Zotero, publishing, and online exhibitions and collections.
The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS) Ilene F. Rockman Publication of the Year Award winners are Heather Jagman and Troy A. Swanson, as editors of the book Not Just Where to Click: Teaching Students How to Think about Information.
Lisa O'Connor is the winner of the BRASS Emerald Research Grant Award for her study, ‘Why Aren't Millennials Taking Stock?: Assessing the Role of Information Literacy in Market Avoidance.’ The findings of this study will derive valuable information for business librarians to use in the design of their own financial literacy programs for millennials.
