Editor in Chief of IMEFM wins coveted 2016 IDB Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance
Award recognizes, rewards and encourages creative efforts of outstanding merit in the fields of Islamic economics, banking and finance

- Professor Kabir Hassan – Editor in Chief of Emerald’s IMEFM
(International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management) – has won the coveted 2016 Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance.
This international award, which alternates between the fields of Islamic economics and Islamic banking and finance, was founded in 1408H (1988) with the objective of recognizing, rewarding and encouraging creative efforts of outstanding merit in the fields of Islamic economics, banking and finance.
Professor Hassan has won 2016 Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance the award for his significant contribution to the field of Islamic banking and finance towards society as a whole, especially with reference to the development of the Islamic Financial Services Industry.
The award is a true testimony to Professor Hassan’s outstanding contribution and devotion to the field.

Professor Hassan is a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He Hassan regularly gives lectures and workshops in the US and abroad, and has presented over 270 research papers at professional conferences and has delivered 102 invited papers and seminars.
