Emerald chooses Plan International as its 2016 charity
Emerald is now in its 17th year of charitable fundraising and has nominated Plan International as its charity of the year
Plan International was founded in 1937 and is one of the oldest and largest children’s development organizations that work with, for and on behalf of children in more than 70 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas, to promote children’s rights and provide better opportunities for millions of children. Its outstanding work has so far covered a population of 164.9 million people, including 81.5 million children over 86,676 communities.
Richard Bevan, Chief Executive at Emerald, said: “Plan International does incredibly important work to help improve the lives and prospects of children across the globe, and Emerald is therefore very proud to be supporting it in 2016.
“Emerald is committed to linking research and practice for the benefit of society - a philosophy which closely aligns with Plan International’s aspirations of ensuring all children have free access to high quality education to help them transform their futures.
“And it is the fantastic work Plan International undertakes in order to inspire, enrich and empower the lives of children living in poverty that persuaded Emerald staff to select Plan - ahead of other, very worthy causes - as its official charity in 2016.
Throughout 2015, Emerald staff supported Alzheimer’s Research UK by taking part in fundraising events such as Total Warrior, walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a 1920s-themed ball, bake sales and pub quizzes.
Emerald staff - and, in particular, its charity committee, made up of volunteers dedicated to raise money for chosen causes - will be doing their utmost in 2016 to exceed the impressive £20,000 raised for the official 2015 Emerald charity.
Creative fundraising ideas are currently either being brewed or being put in to place; and Emerald has created a web landing page
that be regularly updated with details of its fundraising endeavours for Plan in 2016.
