2014 Academic Case Writing Competition Winners Announced

Emerald and ASFOR celebrate latest case writing talent at award ceremony in Milan, Italy

United Kingdom, 12 May 2014 – Emerald Group Publishing is pleased to announce that the second annual ASFOR/Emerald Case Writing Competition Award Ceremony will take place this week. The case writing awards, sponsored by global academic publisher, Emerald, and the Italian association for management education, ASFOR, recognizes research excellence and aims to encourage stronger collaboration between academic business schools and the corporate environment.

The one day event, which also includes an exclusive workshop and keynote presentations for attendees will take place on 14 May 2014, at the University Luigi Bocconi, Milan, Italy.

The workshop, entitled ‘Method and Case Management Training between Tradition and Innovation’, is aimed at case writers, professional managers and business school deans. It will provide participants with the opportunity to discuss opportunities for cooperation and address case writing as a knowledge sharing and educational tool.

This year’s winning case will be awarded to Dino Ruta, Giulia Ferrari and Severino Salvemini, for their case, entitled ‘After so much music: the repositioning of MTV Italia’. In appreciation of their success, the team will receive €1,500 and a plaque of recognition. All award submissions were judged for their originality and focus on pertinent business and management issues in Italy by a panel of case writing experts and representatives from both Emerald and ASFOR.

Simon Linacre, Head of Academic Relations and Services at Emerald, comments: “Once again, we are delighted to honour some of the best academic case writing globally. Encouraging authors to develop case study content is at the heart of Emerald’s philosophy as it aspires to ensure a real link between research and practice for the benefit of both students and their future workplaces.”

President of ASFOR, Vladimir Nanut, adds: "Case method is crucial in understanding central themes of the executive management education learning process, development of teaching materials and study and analysis of the business environment. Case writing provides great opportunities for business schools to build a direct relationship with the corporate world through a direct collaboration and partnership."

Attendance at the workshop and award ceremony is free to business school faculty staff, deans and corporate representatives interested in collaborating on research projects. To register, simply follow this link:
