Bingley, United Kingdom, 29 November 2013 - Librarians and Information Professionals attending the first ASLIB Knowledge and Information Strategy Summit (AKISS) will relish the Opening Keynote by social media expert, Euan Semple, on delivering value using modern technologies. The former BBC journalist will be joined by a plethora of high profile speakers who will share their insights on key issues in the information industry during the two-day event. AKISS takes place at the British Library in London on 5-6 December. The full programme and registration are available online:

Euan Semple will give the opening keynote on day one of AKISS, setting out the opportunities for those with information management, knowledge management, and records management skills to deliver value using modern technologies. Euan was one of the first to introduce social media while working in a senior position at the BBC and has since become a well-known speaker, writer and consultant on the social web for business.

Other high profile names in the information industry are set to speak during the two-day Summit. Among them, Roly Keating, Chief Executive of the British Library; Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission (to address the Conference by video); and Kate Arnold, President-Elect of the Special Library Assocaition (SLA).

With the mission of “Empowering the Information Community to stay ahead of the curve,” twelve speakers in total will lend their expertise, engaging the audience through case studies, group workshops, debates, and promoting active learning.

ASLIB, the Association for Information Management, serves information professionals and librarians across all sectors. The association supports members to enhance performance through the provision of comprehensive resources, specialist training, communities of practice, advice and international networking.

AKISS is the first Conference organized by ASLIB, for which Emerald is a media partner.

The British Library has provided a limited number of free spaces for AKISS delegates to take part in a tour of the new Georgians Revealed exhibition. Delegates can register for this tour once they have purchased their delegate pass to AKISS:
