Leading experts to speak at the first ASLIB Knowledge and Information Strategy Summit

AKISS takes place at the British Library in London on 5-6 December 2013

Bingley, United Kingdom, 11 October 2013 – Emerald Group Publishing is proud to be the media partner of the first ASLIB Knowledge and Information Strategy Summit (AKISS) taking place at the British Library in London on 5-6 December. A host of experts representing the numerous facets of the information industry are set to share their professional insights during this two-day event which promises engagement and practical outcomes to participants. The full programme is available online now: www.aslib.com/conferences/akiss/programme.htm

In total, twelve speakers will present on a variety of knowledge and information subjects such as managing change, big data, and copyright licensing. Roly Keating, Chief Executive of the British Library; Oliver Morley, Chief Executive of the National Archive; Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission; Kate Arnold, President-Elect of the Special Library Association (SLA); and Euan Semple, Consultant on the social web for business, are among the big names supporting the event towards its mission: “Empowering the Information Community to stay ahead of the curve”.

Throughout the two-day Summit, ASLIB, the Association for Information Management, aims to promote the engagement and active learning of its audience, by mixing case studies, group workshops, debates, along with more radical formats such as “moments of madness”, which invite selected participants to give one-minute presentations about challenges in their profession.

Roly Keating, Chief Executive of the British Library, will open AKISS and chair the event throughout its first day. He will be replaced as Chair by Oliver Morley, Chief Executive of the National Archive, on the second day.

Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission, will give a much anticipated keynote address on how digital information will deliver business growth, better education, scientific and technical development, and improved health.

In his opening keynote, Euan Semple, Consultant on the social web for business, will discuss modern technologies and getting the balance right. He will set out the opportunities for those with Information Management skills to deliver value using modern technologies.

Drawing on her own experience and research, Kate Arnold, President-Elect of SLA, will focus on how to change the way managers think about information and information services.

Delegates can currently register online and benefit from an early bird discount until 31st October by visiting: www.aslib.com/conferences/akiss/index.htm
