Emerald is media partner of the first "World Research and Innovation Congress - Pioneers in Healthcare", Brussels, 5-6 June 2013

Bingley, United Kingdom, 13 May 2013 – Emerald Group Publishing Limited is proud to announce it is the media partner of the first “World Research and Innovation Congress (WRIC) – Pioneers in Healthcare,” which takes place at Steigenberger Grand Hotel in Brussels, on 5-6 June 2013. The two-day event will bring together over 500 of the world’s top scientific health professionals to discuss future challenges and strategies on the key issues facing health research today:

The Congress offers ground breaking sessions and unique opportunities to shape the future of healthcare through innovation and collaboration. Among them, a presentation by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the community founded by Tim Berners-Lee, will uncover for the first time “the Development of semantic web standards to improve the use of clinical data.” This pioneering session will explain the process that is set to have a major impact on the way we deal, store and share clinical data.

Funding will also feature highly on the agenda. In particular, a number of sessions and panel discussions will enable international funding agencies to present their plans to tackle the “Grand Challenges” in healthcare.

With over 50 countries represented in total, the Congress is set to have a truly global scope and facilitate engagement, learning and collaboration among the many academics, researchers, and NGOs attending.

Màire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, has endorsed this event: “The World Research and Innovation Congress aims to bring together key stakeholders in healthcare research to discuss the most important issues impacting our efforts to address the “Grand Challenges” of tomorrow.”

The aims of the World Research and Innovation Congress reflect Emerald’s mission to support research and education to the benefit of society. The company publishes a number of titles in Healthcare Management, among which are such key titles as Journal of Health Organization and Management, Clinical Governance: An International Journal, and Leadership in Health Services.
